Contemporary is a vast genre of dance from the founding styles of Graham and Cunningham to the newly developed Counter Technique and Gaga, there is something in contemporary dance for everyone.
Contemporary class at ACPA starts with improvisation; this gives students a chance to develop their dance vocabulary, confidence and their own unique way of moving. Then the focus will shift to technical work for example a focus on jumps and travel or floor work and flow. The end of class will centre around a short piece of choreography in various styles of contemporary. This class is suitable for anyone that enjoys moving and wants to try something a bit out of the ordinary. Our contemporary classes start from Primary 4.
